A&M T-Shirt Quilt

It's been a while since my last post!  I have been a busy bee trying to get lots of projects done in time for my first market days (like a trade show/craft fair).  I finished my sample t-shirt quilt that I'm planning on displaying.  I don't have much time today, but just wanted to put some pictures up of the finished quilt...I'm reallly glad I get to keep this one :)

Watermelon twist travel bags

Whew!  It's been a busy month for me!   I recently started by own business, Kustom Kwilts and Designs, and have been preparing for two upcoming craft shows to sell my products at.  I can honestly say in the last few weeks, I have gained a huge appreciation for artisans who craft their own products and actually make a living doing it.  I am a full-time employed teacher (ag science) and in my spare time...what spare time?...I attempt to stock up for these shows.  This is a set of make-up or travel bags that I recently made that I adore...don't know if I will be able to part with them!  Due to the colors I picked, I call them the watermelon twist set.

Foldable shopper

This is one of my favorite bags I've ever made!  I love the fabric, even though it may be a little's light weight and sturdy.  It has a simple design with a scalloped pocket on the front of the bag.  I'll be putting some of these on Etsy soon, so be on the lookout!

Reversible table runner

This is a reversible table runner for my mom.  She picked out the fabrics that she wanted, and also wanted me to do a scalloped binding.  I had never done that before, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.  I think it turned out okay for my first time...

Green Grocery Bags

I've started making bags recently, and hate those reusable grocery bags that you can buy that are so flimsy they are really disposable.  These bags are heavy duty, with liners, and can be folded to conserve space.  These are some of the ones I have recently made.  My favorite is the sewing bag for my MANY trips to the fabric store!

Texas Tech Quilt

This is a quilt I recently made for my brother, who is a Tech Alumni.  Hopefully he doesn't look at this blog ;).  It's a little bit difficult to see in the photos, but I used red and silver thread to quilt the double T logo on alternating squares.  The other squares are filled in with the TT gun.  The border detail is random quilting in red.

4th of July table runner and placemats

I tried my hand at another table runner with a patriotic theme and matching placemats.  These can be purchased online at my Etsy store (Kustom Kwilts).  The set is fully reversible, and the back of the table runner matches the back of the placemats.  It's difficult to see the quilting, but there are 2 large stars and 3 small stars on each placemat.  The table runner is quilted with stars as well.

Churn Dash Baby Quilt

This is a quilt pattern I found online that I just love!  It is designed for a baby, but I'm tempted to keep it for myself ;).  It was a joy to make and the colors are very playful and fun.

New Bag!

This is the newest bag that I designed for my sister-in-law, Kim.  I really like the quilted bags that are sold commercially, and hope to make some more that are equally as good as those!
It has one pocket on the outside, a large pocket on the inside, and various sized pockets on a strip on the other side of the inside.

Gray and Blue Tote

Tote #2 is much improved.  I added snaps to the sides to make the bag smaller when you don't need to carry everything but the kitchen sink.  I also added pockets to the inside and another pocket to the outside of the bag.

Pick-a-pocket tote

I just completed my first bag!  This is a really cute little tote that has 6 pockets (3 on each side) that is perfect for carrying all of your odds and ends.  Finished bag is 8"x10"x4".  My next project is making a similar bag but larger.

Gingham Quilt

This was my first shot at free motion quilting.
I used a stiple pattern and really liked the outcome.

Baby's first birthday quilt

My cousin Holly recently requested a quilt for her niece, who will be celebrating her first birthday in just a few days.  I updated my labels (that I do myself) and was pretty pleased with the result.  I also took my first shot at still needs some work, but hopefully practice makes perfect!

Cathedral Windows

My favorite quilt pattern has to be the cathedral windows.  It's called this because when done with muslin, if you hold the quilt up to a window, it looks similar to stained glass.  I haven't gotten very far on this one, I only work on it during road trips in the car...

Nearly finished Land of Nod baby quilt

I am nearly finished with the newest baby quilt.  I still have to put the label and pre-wash before it goes on it's way!

Simple patch baby quilt

This is a baby shower gift I am working on right now.  The parents are waiting until the baby's birthday to discover the gender, so they had chosen bedding from Crate and Barrel's The Land of Nod.  It is bedding with dark grays and yellows, so the quilt colors reflect that.

John Deere Baby Quilt

I just finished this quilt yesterday.  It is a John Deere themed baby quilt for a friend who is due in a couple of months.

Personalized label and quilt care tips card

This is right after the first wash and dry of the quilt.
Sometimes it will come out a little bunchy, but if you
iron it once, it straightens out well.  Some people
prefer this look to the crisp appearance.
